Background:
Adam completed an MSc in Genetic Epidemiology at the University of Sheffield in 2003 before starting work at the Cambridge Genetics Knowledge Park (now PHG Foundation). Initially he worked with Dr. Paul Pharoah on a project assessing the familial risk of 7 common, chronic diseases which was funded by the Association of British Insurers. Following this 2-year project, Adam was awarded a Department of Health Personal Award to fund a 3-year PhD beginning in January 2006.

Current Research Interests:
Adam’s PhD, based jointly in the UK HuGENet Coordinating Centre and the University Public Health and Primary Care Department, is attempting to understand biases and sources of heterogeneity that may be present in meta-analyses of genetic association studies. With his supervisor Julian Higgins, empirical research is currently being undertaken on a dataset of meta-analyses in coronary heart disease in conjunction with Professor John Danesh and the Molecular Epidemiology Unit.
